Puglia is your next door neighbour (you are from Lucania). What kind of relationship do you have with it? You know where it is but you haven’t ever been there, or you have already met it?

Puglia? It is a bit like my second homeland. I know it very well I have travelled through it. My last girlfriend was from Puglia. I adore its traditional food, it is the triumph of the simplicity.

Are you one of the kind that looks for links with traditions and cultures different than yours?

Let’s say I have links with the ones who propose them tome and I feel curiosity for the other cultures.

Discovering Puglia which part of it has mostly attractedyou?

The hinterland of Bari. Elegant, sophisticated, discreet, that’s why it is called the Paris of the south. It is a noble city, that hide the charm of a past rich of history, worthy of the Svevo castle, strongly wanted by Isabel of Aragon.

Your best memories in Puglia.

When I do a tour with my company. Every time I arrive in Puglia I meet nice people, welcoming and warm. In the spring I’m going to come back portraying my next show “Basilicata coast to coast”, an experimental songtheatre.

Your Basilicata has always felt, in many ways, the influences of the land neighbouring. The gastronomy, for example, is very similar to the Puglia one. In which dish do you find more affinities?

The food, is very similar to the Basilicata one. The intense aromas, the tastes of the traditional food, the specialties who smell of true things. The orecchiette with the cime di rapa are often in the lucania’s menu.

And what’s about the other aspects? Do you find strong communities?

Certainly Puglia and Lucania people have the same sunny character but they are in some ways a bit different. Puglia people are more opened, more extroverted and more cheery, Lucania people are a bit reserved and shy.

Tell us a line we can find in both lands.

I like the sound of the lilt it is a kind of swing. And it is impossible to forget the unequalled saying ”c ge nama sci sciamaninn, c nn ge nama sci non ge n sim scenn!” that means if we have to go let’s do it, if not, let’s not do it.

The Puglia has began a kind of trend. A lot of V.I.P. (Donadoni, Raz Degan, Ken Etro) have settled there buying a house. And you, would you buy one? And where?

I would like to buy a trullo, where to take refuge when I need to be alone.
