Beauty treatments in a masseria. Olive therapy for completely natural all round health and beauty
Detox treatment with olive pâté, restructuring face cleansing with olive butter, mud packs made with olive residues. This in a beautiful white masseria (old fortified farmhouse). Seaside holidays have now definitely changed look. You no longer go just for a suntan, swimming and sport on the beach, but for total well being, to find mental and physical harmony. And after a day at the beach, why not wind down with the warmth of a clever massage, one with an extra ingredient, extra virgin olive oil. One of the best places for doing this is the elegant Masseria Torre Coccaro in Savelletri di Fasano (Coccaro means cockerel, from the Greek word “cocoros”, the masseria was an old watchtower, there to guard against Saracen incursions). This five-star luxury hotel (member of the prestigious chain Small Luxury Hotels Of The World) was built on what was once a farm producing olive oil (there are still old olive presses in the underground caves of the Masseria). The owners decided to exploit the huge potential of the area, one of the richest in Southern Italy in terms of the number of olive trees. In the Masseria itself there are many very old olive trees, some over 700 years old (this is the area where the Benedictine priests first settled, planting the first olive trees). Thus came the idea of creating, inside the Spa (made out of stone and other natural materials such as wood and rice paper), a space for well-being given over to olive therapy, with the help and guidance of Professor Cristina Fossati. Five treatments, 3 for the body and 2 for the face, created and patented exclusively for Torre Coccaro, with multiple effects. They are completely manual and can have anti-oxidant, firming, draining, reducing and detox effects. Fresh products are used to give greater direct benefits (olive paste, olive residues, olive leaves) as well as a range of natural products with high olive oil content. One of the most unusual treatments is the “detox treatment with olive pâté” which removes toxins and regenerates the skin and can also be a basis for preparing the body for more specific treatments (reducing, draining and firming also available at the Masseria). You start with a marine scrub with oil from olive residues and ground olive leaves. With this mixture you then move into the caldarium (hot room) for a steam bath with extracts of extra virgin olive oil and oleoeuropina (an anti-oxidant contained in the leaves)and then afterwards you have a re-modelling massage with olive paste with multi-vitamin restructuring synergies. The olive paste is left on for 30 minutes, the time it takes to carry out an anti-age face massage with olive oil and vitamins. Next to the innovative olive therapy section is the Aveda Centre for Well Being (in what was once the building containing the old stables and the olive presses, where the peasants would sleep to prevent thieves from coming in), with treatments containing moss, yucca, aloe vera, camomile, lime and organic fruit, taken from the lands belonging to Aveda. A large techno-gym, a heated pool, hydro-massage and Turkish bath are also available. Here you can try out Japanese“Kembiki – Akkimma Body” massages, which stimulate the release of deep blocks and muscular tension. Well-being continues in the food, with organic products being served, and in the rooms, from the windows you can look out over the surrounding countryside and breathe in its scents. Natural elements for a truly relaxing holiday.
